The coalition will meet Wednesday, Dec. 9 in the Tamblyn Field Civic Center, and invites anyone interested in addressing drug addiction problems on a local level to attend.

The 6:30 p.m. meeting will show how you can get involved in creating a safer, healthier, drug-free community.

The Rutherford Community Prevention Coalition (RCPC) is a group of professionals, volunteers, and youth working to reduce substance use in town.

RCPC, which began in 2013, is part of the federal Drug-Free Communities Support Program, and is partially funded with federal grants.

RCPC addresses local problems with local solutions. A goal is identifying, addressing, and decreasing alcohol and drug use by young people.

Membership is open to anyone interested in helping to create a safe, healthy, and drug-free Rutherford.

Regular meetings are held monthly on the fourth Wednesday at Rutherford Borough Hall. Refreshments will be served.
